What is the Surgery?

The Rector’s Surgery is a pre-advertised period when parishioners may consult with the Rectory on any matter, without the need for an appointment. During advertised Surgery hours, parishioners may see the Rector on a “first come, first served” basis.

The Surgery is the appropriate time for interviews leading to Baptism Applications, or for discussion of marriage plans, or even the submission of an application for the Publication of banns. All other matters, routines or unusual, may also be brought to the Rector during Surgery periods.

When is the Surgery?

The usual weekly Surgery times are EVERY MONDAY from 10am until at least 11.30am. However, the Surgery is closed on Bank Holidays. Additional Surgery time is sometimes offered, meeting in the evening at Bramber.

Where is the Surgery?

The Surgery is held in the Gladys Bevan Hall, Beeding. The hall will usually be in use for other purposes at the same time - in particular on Monday morning during school term time the Church Mice (Parents & Toddlers Group) will be in session.

What should I do at the Surgery?

Visitors should report to the Parish Officer, and depending upon the nature of their enquiry, they will be dealt with in one of three ways:

  1. A.They may be interview by the Parish Administrator or an Administrative Assistance, and where necessary they may be assisted to complete a form;

  2. B.They may be seen by the Rector in the Parish Office, with or without the assistance of other members of staff;

  3. C.They may be seen by the Rector in the soft interview room, which is part of The Gladys Bevan Hall facilities.

Other Facilities

During term time parents who wish to see the Rector may leave their children in the Church Mice group. Also coffee, tea and squash are usually available, with biscuits or other refreshments. There are toilets and baby-changing facilities available.
